The following text draws on Chicago-Style Citation Quick Guide.
In this method, sources are cited in numbered footnotes or at the end. Each footnote corresponds to a numeric superscript in the text. Sources are usually listed in a separate bibliography. The advantage of this method is the possibility of neat citing of unusual sources as well.
In this method, sources are briefly cited in the text, usually in parentheses, according to the author's surname and year of publication. Each citation in the text corresponds to an entry in the bibliography, where complete bibliographic citations are given.
